Our history

A family story written by hand

Everything on this site began with one sheet: a chart drawn by a relative, titled “Romero Family ~ From 1800 to Present.... Starting in Tucson, Arizona.”

At its root stand Ramon Romero and Josefa. A pencil note beside them reads “March 1810”, “Born in Mexico” and what appears to be “To Tucson in 1865”. Their two sons, Leonardo Sr. and Feliciano, married in 1848 and 1849, and from them the chart fans out into 17 grandchildren and, by the sixth generation, 140 descendants.

The chart records names and marriages, not dates of birth, so the timeline here keeps only the seven dates actually written on it. Where the handwriting or a crossing line could not be read with confidence, the site says so instead of guessing.

  • March 1810Ramon Romero
  • 18 Nov 1844Note above Leonardo Sr.
